our beloved, cupcake servin' 1965 vintage Airstream we rescued circa 2010 from a small town in Ohio. She was in absolute shambles when we got her, but with a little faith and a lot of cosmetic surgery, she shines proud today!
It's not a party until Bubbles arrives. If you would like to invite her to a special event, give us a shout. She is great for photo opps and smiles. Seriously, try frowning while eating a Trailercake... it's impossible... and messy.
Everyone told us, "she's not worth it", but when have we ever listened to what 'everyone' says?
We were on the verge of losing hope when we received an email letting us know that we had won the auction on the trailer. A mini freak out ensued, at least until we realized 'Bubbles' was a thousand miles away in a small Ohio town. Then a much larger freak out ensued. We took a breath, gathered ourselves and had her shipped to Texas.
She arrived a complete mess! With dings, scratches, holes, missing parts and four mismatched wheels, we were told by the professionals to "let her go." We didn't listen. Deep down we saw her potential and were dead set on restoring Bubbles to her former self. Other than the two of us, there wasn't one person that saw any potential in her. That is, until we met Gabe.
Gabe picked her up thinking she wouldn't even survive the short road trip to his repair shop. Between debris and doors flying open, she was a real road hazard. After 3 weeks of intense cosmetic surgery with Gabe, we came for a visit. We were right after all! She was a shining beauty and ready to serve cupcakes.
Bubbles made her debut in 2011 and has been a moving landmark ever since!
Trailercakes is the brainchild of Heather and Leora, two children of the 70's. The founders had one goal in mind when creating their cupcakes: make the best tasting cupcakes while evoking nostalgic emotions of happiness and bliss. That's why they like to say "happiness is in the frosting."
They believe a laid-back atmosphere can and should exist without compromising quality. It isn't a beauty contest either. They don't spend hours perfecting sprinkle placement or making sure the frosting sits perfectly on each cupcake. Instead they spend their time making delicious, comforting, OMG-lick-the-frosting-off-your-fingers, crumbs all over your shirt cupcakes.
And the owner? Heather ran a cooking school out of her home when she was 11. Trailercakes has allowed her to follow a lifelong passion rooted in slap-your-mother delicious cupcakes.
with a typical Heather and Leora "Lucy and Ethel" moment that went something like this...
Leora: Hey, you wanna start selling cupcakes out of a trailer?
Heather: Sure
They soon became the proud owners of a misfit Airstream Trailer after winning a random bid on eBay from a seller named "bubbles-meanie."
The rest is Trailercakes history.... so far.
